Remedial Massage
Remedial massage may be gentle or strong depending on the individual. If there is a musculoskeletal dysfunction, a variety of techniques are used to alleviate pain, improve posture, flexibility and encourage fluid movement. It is soothing to the nervous system enhancing relaxation.
Pregnancy Massage
A Late Pregnancy Belly Pillow® supports your growing belly right up until the last weeks of pregnancy. It allows you to lie on your front, and it eases pressure on low back and hips so you can have a comfortable massage.
Benefits of pregnancy massage
• improved circulation
• greater nutrient absorption and enhances waste product removal
• reduces neck, back, sacroiliac pain caused by change in posture, muscle imbalance and weakness
• increases lymphatic circulation, reducing oedema and fatigue
• promotes flexibility in muscles, tendons and joints
• reduces muscle spasm and leg cramps
• relaxing and reduces stress
Deep Tissue Massage
More emphasis is placed on softening muscle restriction by working deeper into the tissue. This is done several times during the massage increasing relaxation by relieving pain, giving longer lasting benefits.
Trigger Point Therapy
TP (trigger point) therapy is used in muscles that are causing local and referred pain. The muscle is tender, preventing full range of movement. Compression to the trigger point or points in the muscle is used to break down the adhered fibres allowing blood to flow more easily while allowing waste products to be taken away via the bloodstream.
PNF Stretching
PNF (proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation) stretching was developed in the 1940’s and 50’s by a neurophysiologist to rehabilitate stroke victims, and has since made a come back in the 80’s to improve ROM in athletes. This is more a technique combining passive and isometric stretching, and is considered to be one of the most effective ways to increase flexibility, therefore reducing the risk of injury.
